Rangeley Branch Rail Restoration

The project consists of restoring approximately 6,600 linear feet of the Rangeley Branch mainline between West Hardscrabble Road near the Lewiston Junction Road at the project’s easterly end and Siding 227 of the St. Lawrence and Atlantic Railroad at the project’s westerly end. The project also consist of approximately 400-ft of new spur track from the midpoint of the mainline to a private abutting property. The track improvements consist of but are not limited to clearing, grubbing, ditch cleaning, excavation, grading, drainage, culverts, sub-ballast, track ballast, tie and rail installation work. Railroad related materials as identified in the Contract Documents will be furnished by the St. Lawrence and Atlantic Railroad.

A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. December 5, 2012 at the Androscoggin Valley Council of Government (AVCOG) office building located at 125 Manley Road in Auburn, Maine. Only attendees will be allowed to bid.

Sealed Bids addressed to the Lewiston Auburn Railroad Company, c/o Lewiston-Auburn Economic Growth Council, 415 Lisbon Street, Suite 400, PO Box 1188, Lewiston, Maine 04243-1188 and endorsed on the wrapper “Bid for Rangeley Branch Rail Restoration Construction Project, Poland and Auburn, Maine” will be received from contractors at the Lewiston-Auburn Economic Growth Council’s Reception Desk, 415 Lisbon Street, Suite 400, Lewiston, Maine until 10:00 a.m. (prevailing time) on December 19, 2012 January 3, 2012 January 16, 2013, February 15, 2013 (See Addendum #05), and at that time and place publicly opened and read.  Bids will be accepted from all bidders. The lowest responsive bidder must have successfully completed a railroad project of similar size and scope within the last five years, and shall submit a one-page project summary of said project(s) along with its bids.

For Project-specific information fax all questions to Transportation Director at (207)783-5211.  Faxes  need  to  be clearly labeled  “Questions on Rangeley Branch Rail Restoration Bidding.” Questions received after 12:00 noon of December 13, 2012 December 19, 2012 February 8, 2013(See addendum #05) will not be answered. Bidders shall not contact any other person for clarification of Contract provisions, and the Lewiston Auburn Railroad Company will not be responsible for any interpretations so obtained.   

The right is hereby reserved to Lewiston Auburn Railroad Company to reject any or all bids.
