Planning staff provide assistance to comprehensive planning committees,
planning boards, appeals boards, code enforcement officers and other
municipal officials with a variety of planning and land use topics
including:

These services are funded through the State Planning Office, municipal
dues and fee-for-service arrangements. Staff provides guidance ranging
from phone calls to attendance at meetings and field visits. Work
includes developing new ordinances, assisting
with ordinance amendments and conducting workshops
for individual member towns. Staff also assists many towns to conduct
reviews of large or complex subdivisions and site plans. A six week
Development Review Course is offered in the spring,
with Planning Day held annually in November. Staff
offers workshops to small groups of towns on an as needed basis.
Technical staff also provides assistance in the following areas:
Facility Management/Design (fee-for-service)
Public Facility Analysis including:
- Roads and drainage systems
- Town office space
- Salt Storage systems
- Capital Improvement Programming
