Existing and Proposed citylink Network

citylink has been providing Lewiston and Auburn with bus service since 1976. With the dramatic changes in the area’s population over the last ten years, we want to reexamine that service and develop a plan for both immediate and long-term improvements – not just in L-A but in the adjoining towns of Lisbon and Sabattus. The goal of the study is to design the most effective, efficient transit system for the region starting from the bottom up. The study will make recommendations to improve transit convenience, reliability, and accessibility for riders, reduce travel times between destinations, and expand service at times and locations where there is the highest demand.

While nationwide transit usage has understandably gone down over the past months due to the COVID-19 pandemic, transit experts are expecting numbers to begin to return to normal sometime in 2021 or 2022.

The study is scheduled to be completed by the fall of 2022, with study updates and the final reports available on this website. The recommendations will be designed to be implemented over time; some will be shorter term, some could take a few years.

If you’d like to get an update on upcoming public meetings, or copy of the report when it is completed, just send your email address or cell number to JWilliams@avcog.org.
