Regional Plans

AVCOG works with the Maine Department of Transportation to identify regional transportation needs, priorities and opportunities.

In 2006, the AVCOG Executive Committee adopted Regional Strategic Investments for the AVCOG region. Strategic investments are defined as multi-modal transportation improvements of regional or statewide significance that cannot expect to be funded through traditional state funding sources (e.g. the Maine Department of Transportation's biennial Capital Work Program). These strategic investments are the most important transportation projects in the AVCOG region.

The Regional Strategic Investments are reviewed annually to ensure that they remain relevant to the region and are updated when necessary. In addition to the original report from 2006, the current list of Regional Strategic Investments and corresponding map are available below.

The Regional Transportation Assessment is an inventory and assessment of regional transportation, land use and economic development needs along four major multi-modal transportation corridors within the AVCOG region.
