***** SERVICE ALERT *****
The Lewiston-Auburn Transit Committee met Thursday March 9th to discuss the recent service disruption and route modifications effecting routes 4,5 and 9. The committee, to lessen the overall system impacts is implementing a revised schedule effective Monday March 13th.
Starting Monday March 13th, citylink will resume FULL-SERVICE HOURLY to route 4 New Auburn. The committee understands how the New Auburn route supports both cities with connections to multiple interlines. 4 New Auburn has nearly double the ridership that 5 Minot Ave and 9 Downtown Shuttle have combined. Until a replacement vehicle can be secured, citylink will suspend service to routes 5 Minot Ave and 9 Downtown Shuttle. We realize parts of Downtown Shuttle can be accommodated by other citylink routes. The area most affected by this change will be route 5 Minot Ave. However, ALL IS NOT LOST for Minot Ave Riders. WMTS has agreed to support Minot Ave Riders with Demand Response Service. Demand Response does allow for Minot Avenue Riders to call and reserve a ride. It’s not like a taxi or Uber/Lyft, it does take some planning but if you know you need a ride every day, they can set you up with a regular ride. If you know you have an appointment at 10am on Thursday, you can call them as early as 2 weeks in advance to schedule that ride. You may not be able to call them 10 minutes from when you need to travel but you may be able to go with an hour or two notice. With as much advance planning as possible, Minot Avenue riders will not be stranded.
Call WMTS at 207-777-4563 to schedule a ride. citylink is working hard to provide a low impact solution to a very difficult situation. As always, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these challenges.
Due to an vehicle crashing into our bus, rendering it out of service, citylink is forced to reduce service weekdays until a repair or replacement can be put in place. We do not have enough vehicles in service to fully operate the schedules during weekdays. We are working as quickly as possible to rectify the situation but patrons should be prepared for a lengthy service modification. We have 2 new buses on order but they are not scheduled to be manufactured until July so likely in service mid to late August.
This route modification begins on Monday March 13th and will continue until we can return the fleet to full capacity.
Our sincerest apologies to riders effected by this change and please know we are doing all we can to expedite a return to full service.
